Evergreen Rotary Park

Evergreen Rotary Park

A beautiful park with beach access, a boat launch, paths, and lawns plus a 9/11 memorial and rental shelters. Just 3/4 of a mile north of the Bremerton ferry dock.

It also features the city’s first fully accessible playground. This ADA-compliant playground includes play for all abilities with an OmniSpin Spinner, Roller Table, Oodle Swing, and Anti-static playground grass that improves wheelchair maneuverability. A great post ahead.

Playground

The quaint Kitsap County city of Bremerton may be known for its naval bases, but it also has plenty of natural charm. This is especially true for its downtown waterfront. Families can spend one to two hours wandering past restaurants, statues, and memorials while taking in the view of Puget Sound and Seattle from the harbor.

The park also has a new, nature-themed playground that pays homage to the Suquamish Tribe. It has rope bridges and a pod of orcas that kids can climb on, as well as Lushootseed phrases printed on walkways.

Bremerton and Kitsap County’s first inclusive playground opened in 2014 after a great deal of fundraising and outreach. It features molded bucket and basket swings, a wheelchair-accessible spinner, ramps, and multiple music-sensory elements. Artificial turf surfacing was chosen for its ability to improve wheelchair maneuverability and because it is antistatic, which makes the space safe for children who wear cochlear implants.

Boat Launch

Evergreen Rotary Park is one of only a few boat launches in the area. But it’s getting worn and slick and needs a major overhaul to meet state standards. The Port of Bremerton and the city are applying for a grant to help pay for it. The money comes from a state boating program that’s funded through boaters’ gas taxes.

The project would replace the ramp’s dock and float, swapping creosote-treated wood pilings for steel ones that have a longer life span and won’t leach toxic chemicals into the water. It also would lengthen the ramps and smooth their surfaces to make them easier to use even at low tide.

Whether it’s running, throwing a frisbee, taking a stroll, or picnicking with friends and family, this landscaped spot offers something for everyone. It’s nestled in a quiet neighborhood that’s surrounded by water and forests. The giant playground gives kids something to climb and scamper on while wide expanses of grass invite people to sprawl out. More places to also visit by clicking here.

Its accessible features include an OmniSpin Spinner, Roller Table, Oodle Swing, and anti-static playground grass that improves wheelchair maneuverability. In addition, the playground has various shaded areas and a picnic shelter for visitors to enjoy a leisurely meal outdoors.
